One of my favorite projects to complete with 7th graders is pictured below! This project is a practice of learning facial proportions, a review of warm/cool colors, and a chance to incorporate music lyrics into an artwork. I always love the results!

I'm so excited to have Junior High students back! This trimester I have 27 Art 8 students during my 4th hour. Their first project was this mini Zentangle Name Design to get back into the swing of things. Zentangles are organized doodles, generally with Sharpie markers. They did a great job! Up next, we reviewed the color wheel, and are now putting it to use creating a Warm/Cool Tree drawing.
Check back for more updates soon! Students are working on scratch art projects. Students were supposed to color on a piece of paper, then paint over it and scratch designs in the paint. They are coming along very well! This week in Art class, we took a test on the color wheel. We also started our color wheel collages. We took anything that we could possibly find in magazines, wrappers, pictures, etc. and put them to work. We used our color wheel knowledge to create our very own shoe design. The shoe designs brought out a lot of creativity in each and every one of us. We are looking forward to having more challenges throughout our time in this class! Before winter break we made perspective drawings of rooms, learned about the color wheel, and designed shoes based on the color wheel. We learned about primary and secondary colors. We also took a quiz on the color wheel. The perspective drawings are suppose to be 3-D. To start this week, we are reviewing the color wheel through a group collage project. Check out the video below for a quick look at some examples! This week in 8th grade we made a color wheel, and learned about the color schemes. We designed shoes using what we learned on the color wheel. We have a test tomorrow on this (if we have school. ) We also learned how to do perspective, and we drew rooms using that. What was required for that was to have a window and a door, a detailed floor, 2 furniture pieces, 2 wall items, and you can only have one white wall. And, also like every week, we were supposed to do our sketchbooks, and put 30 minutes in it. |
